WHITE / AUTUMN

Traditionally the Seasons are signified by colours and meanings.

Autumn is white and is synonymous with preparation and readiness. The cycle of the seasons is a universal experience shared by all human life. The tilting of the Earth has shaped every culture of humankind and the annual changes and events are written into the genetic memory of all of us. With differing details but shared themes all cultures celebrate and worship the passing of the four seasons. Autumn is represented by White, the colour of mourning.

The colours of life in the world gradually fade in the Autumn, but this is also the time of the harvest, in literature and poetry is signifies wisdom and mystery. This exhibition hosts both new and old works, all related to the cycle of time, preserving states of cyclic processes, changes and transformations between different forms of being. They capture the process, the mid-states, unconcerned with beginnings or endings, focused only on the journey and understanding it.

contemporary jewellery / Deborah Tseng is a London based designer and artist. She combines her extensive education in crafts with traditions and ideas from a range of visual arts. She is inspired by repetition, by decay, by time and by the minutiae of the world around her. She hand makes all of her objects and jewellery in porcelain and metal. Her work layers varying subtle and deliberate textures, all shrouded in the colour white. This disguises the intricacy and invites the observer to look closely or physically interact with the work.
